Sarah Brightman

the concert (courtesy of Sarah Brightman's offical website!)

They did the exact duplication of the original concert in the hometown. The stage, the sound system, the dancers, the staff... all the original cast. Thus, the top quality. *points @ pic* you can see the catwalk which leads to a small pentagon stage, but at the other end of the catwalk it was actually a BIG ROUND stage... i can't really describe it 0_o; but it was truely breath-taking~

I was sitting at the front right block, 11th row seat 9 and can clearly see her when she walks to the catwalk & on the small pentagon stage! Despite she's in her mid-40s, she's full of seductive grace (she's known to be a wild one and was once a teen-model oh). Skin tanned & always a smile on her face~ The indoor stadium is about 90% filled with 60% foreigners & most of them are her hardcore fans. The couple beside me has been listening to her for 2 decades & seen all her previous performances. wow.

The concert was full of lighting effects & prop effects backed up by 8 dancers, 2 backup + 1 guest vocalists, a small 'live' orchestra, a terrific sound system crew & special stage props. But Sarah Brightman herself did some of the "stunts" like wired up & doin samersaults, spread wings like a bird, raised up platforms, etc~ and she played the piano as she sang "The war is over now"

I was reading the Straits Time Life! earlier and they mentioned some US critics compared her to Britney, resorting to those fancy clothes-changing, special effects & scantilly-dressed dancers... i beg to differ! She's sexy & got a mind of her own, yes with her gifted voice she can do w/o all these, but she has put all these together to make a performance of a higher-level, so why not?! She has evolved so much thru'out her 25 yrs of career...

i started listening to her since secondary school years when she was in her operatic era. I did hear some of her earlier pop era songs but i didn't really like it *lol* now she has moved on to neoclassic/newage/techno... i'm glad i made it to her concert~ MAGNIFICENT is an understatement~

Sarah Brightman is a Coloratura Soprano. So is the french vocalist (classical/neoclassic stepover) Emma Shapplin, whose concert i'll be attending next Sunday!
