Sunday (part II)
evening. Went to Esplanade to watch Hello Broadway.
A joint project btw New York & Sg in an attempt to attract young audience to broadway... but it was full house just now. & i actually do see a lot of locals (despite my left seated a lady foreigner, my right seated a foreign couple) ~:)
abt some of the performers:
~ TW-US Welly Yang (Miss Saigon and Wedding Banquet) has his own company and oh man~ his singing is powerful! jus now he sang fr Phantom of the Opera & Les Miserables... T_T
~ Judy Kuhn probably easiest recognised for her Pocahontas' colors of the wind.
~ Dina Morishita (wow she has a lot of fansite) better recognised for Les Miserables & Miss Saigon.
SSO is playing the music.
the whole show was great. the singing is terrific (with the vocalists as limelight & w/o the bgm too loud). & even thou the songs came fr different broadway shows, they managed to string them up in a very comfy and sometimes even funny way. Dina Morishita did a sexy dance for Chicago's "all that jazz", Judy Kuhn & Welly Yang did a very comical duet from Funny Girl. i din really like Jerry Dixon's interpretion of songs fr Lion King... but his voice is good i must say. Jason R.Brown sang 1 song- his own piece incorporatin Swing + Jazz, wow. The whole show is so great that time jus slips past w/o the audience realising it, & keep encore for more.
somehow, songs fr Les Miserables always make me wana cry -_- (they sang "one day more" and "on my own"...)
p.s. i'll talk abt Cosfest laterz...
btw, check this out if u are into indies bands & 'lives'.
